Crystal Hudson, New York City Council Member-Elect of District 35, has kept a campaign promise she made to Crown Heights residents about an issue brought to her attention by comedian Mendy Pellin.
Hudson, whose district 35 includes the neighborhoods of Fort Greene, Clinton Hill, Crown Heights, Prospect Heights and Bedford Stuyvesant, campaigned heavily in Crown Heights ahead of the election last November.
During the campaign, Mendy Pellin called Hudson while she was eating at Mermelstein’s Takeout on Kingston Avenue to discuss issues that he deemed important for the Jewish community in Crown Heights.
This week, Hudson made good on her promise, presenting Pellin with a gift at the home of community activist Yaacov Behrman.

That’s so nice. You can tell that she is a nice person. Happy to have her representing us! I just hope that she isn’t pro bail reform and anti landlord rights.
Love it!
This is a really fun gift
Thank you Mendy for the laungh
She seems like a nice person
A huge shout-out to all the activists of Crown Heights United who continue to work tirelessly on behalf of the entire community to build meaningful relationships with our elected officials and institutions. Also to Mendy Pellin who was the first Social media promoter to lend his support.
Wow
She seems so pleasant and normal Thank G-d glad to have voted for her!!
What we really want is to be safe on the streets of crown heights. Anyone who can take that on has my vote.
I love the lightheartedness – and seeing a politician who seems sweet and well-meaning and willing to play with the locals. (Wondering – when she said; “courtesy of me” did that mean *she* paid for the towels out of her own pocket, or did the taxpayers pay for those towels?)
Love it
For bringing us a daily laugh!!!
We need it!!
