Crown Heights has officially thrown its support behind Andrew Cuomo in the upcoming mayoral primary, making it the third Orthodox Jewish community to endorse the former governor. The neighborhood joins Far Rockaway and the Bobov community in Borough Park in backing Cuomo’s bid.
This endorsement is particularly significant, as Crown Heights was the first Chassidic community to endorse Mayor Eric Adams in the 2021 primary. With Mayor Adams not running in the democratic primary, and polls showing a competitive contest between Zohran Mamdani and Cuomo, the Crown Heights Jewish community has now united behind Cuomo.
Statement from Crown Jewish United and the Crown Heights PAC: Endorse Andrew Cuomo for Mayor
“Crown Jewish United and the Crown Heights PAC are joining forces to offer a unified endorsement of Andrew Cuomo as our #1 choice for Mayor in the upcoming primary.
In the past, our groups have endorsed different candidates. But this year, one of the contenders is openly promoting anti-Semitic rhetoric, supports the BDS movement, threatened to arrest Prime Minister Netanyahu if he visits New York, and chose to attack Israel instead of condemning Hamas on October 8, 2023—while the deadliest massacre of Jews by Hamas in modern history was still unfolding.
We believe it is vital to stand together and speak with one voice. Andrew Cuomo is the only candidate who can stop Zohran Mamdani in the primary.
Later this week, we will announce our #2 and #3 mayoral endorsements, along with our support for candidates in other local races.”
The ballots are “ranked” voting, allowing for second and more choices. Cuomo has a terrible record in some choices when he was Governor. However he has a chance of winning the democratic primary against Mamdani who is a rabid anti semite and defund the police (G-d forbid) promoter. Cuomo and Tilson (Tilson has so very little chance of winning at this point) both wore yellow ribbon in support of hostages. And Tilson is not antisemitic. So I’m putting Cuomo as first choice and Tilson as second. Probably leaving the rest blank. This whole thing shows us we need to keep… Read more »
This is just the primary— you are not voting Cuomo in as Mayor if you don’t want to. You’re just voting against Mamhhdani having a chance. Even if you vote Cuomo in the primary to get rid of Mahmdani, you can still vote later for the actual mayor – Eric Adams will be running as an independent and there will be Republican candidates as well.
Please mention this in the article so people with a bad taste for Cuomo understand this is just a step.
He was a terrible governor during covid. Raising minimum wage to 20 dollars is outrageous ! No one gets a five dollar raise overnight . Food prices etc will go up and middle class will suffer even more . Restaurants etc all will be out of reach . The choices are poor and poorer .
Adams in general election. He visits the ohel and put his neck out after Oct 7… That’s why they went after him.

Your not voting Cuomo for mayor. Your voting that you’d rather him over antisemitic communist Mamdani.
Calm down this endorsement makes a lot of sense. u can vote sliwa, adams, yourself or whoever u want in the Mayoral election but since Adams is running as an independent it’s vital to get out and vote cuomo in the primary to block Zohran Mamdani YM”S as the democratic candidate.
Maybe he should issue a public apology to crown heights and the frum neighborhoods for his arbitrary red zones that blamed Frum areas for the spread of covid with zero basis in data
It’s very important to leave Mamdani’s box totally blank, otherwise he gets votes, even if you rank him last.
And yes Cuomo isn’t perfect, but it’s either him or a rabid antisemite. Mamdani supports BDS and said he would arrest Israeli politicians. So you either have someone who made mistakes in the past, or someone who would destroy our future.
