The Crown Heights community is invited to join a unity Hakafa on Simchas Torah day to commemorate the first anniversary of the Simchas Torah attacks in Israel.
As we mark a year since the horrific attacks, our entire community is encouraged to join in the achdus event to increase in unity.
The program will take place following your Shul’s ‘Ata Haraisa’ prayers and will include unity dancing and the reciting of the 12 Pesukim. There will be separate sections for men and women, with a Mechitza.
To accommodate a larger crowd, NYPD will be closing Albany Avenue from Carroll Street to Montgomery St, and Crown Street from Troy Avenue to Kingston, so that the full intersection of Crown and Albany is open for this event.
The following Shuls have committed to join the event:
Avreichim
Beinoni
Beis Levi Yitzchok
Beis Shneur
Merkaz Sefarad
Ohel Nosson
Date: Friday, Simchas Torah
Time: 1:00 – 1:30 pm
Location:
Albany Ave from Crown St to Montgomery Street
Update from the organizers:
A question was raised whether the Sifrei Torah can be taken out onto the street for the dancing, and we reached out to the Crown Heights Bes Din. We were advised not to take out the Sifrei Torah for this Achdus dance.
All Shuls should do Ata Horeisa and Hakafos at their respective Shuls.
We will then meet on Albany Ave between Carroll and Montgomery Streets.
The women should be on Albany between Carroll and Crown. Men on Albany between Crown and Montgomery.
The dancing will be in the main intersection of Crown and Albany for men and boys.
Together we will make a huge Kidush Hashem and Kidush Shem Lubavitch, and bring the Rebbe much Nachas.
