Over 160 Crown Heights residents donated blood at an emergency blood drive Wednesday held at Lubavitch Yeshiva.
The blood drive was organized by Ahavas Chesed partnering with the Maimonides Medical Center.
Rabbi Dovid Lieder, director of Ahavas Chesed, had sent out an urgent call for all healthy donors to donate blood, as there is currently acute need as blood supply drops to very low levels.
Community members scheduled for surgery are in danger, as New York City’s blood supply has dropped alarmingly, Lieder said.
The Ahavas Chesed emergency hotline is always available 24/7 at (718) 221-2424. If you wish to volunteer and help Ahavas Chesed in their work, please sign up on their website at www.ChesedCenter.org.

Thank you Rabbi Lieder for continuing your fathers Holy work and in his footsteps. I am sure he is smiling down from shamayim.
It was really well run, I was in and out of there in about 25min. So proud of the men and women in our community for showing up. The way it was done with mechitzas etc… A moment of many proud moments of this community
