Crown Heights eateries are back to business on Friday, after a power outage forced many shops and businesses to close just ahead of the busy Gimmel Tammuz weekend.
Chocolatte, located in the Jewish Children’s Museum and which is usually open 24 hours, has reopened on Friday morning, offering its popular coffees, pastries and breakfast items from 7:00 AM.
Mendy’s Restaurant, also in the Museum, has opened their kitchens on Friday to prepare their catering foods for this weekend. They will be reopened to the public fully on Sunday, they said.
Sweet Expressions, on the corner of Union Street and Kingston Avenue, has reopened on Friday, with many of their ice creams and food items available. Their second location on Troy Avenue remains fully open and operational, they said.
Biarritz Restaurant, on Kingston Avenue near Lincoln Place, is fully open and operational on Friday, with hours from 10 am – 6 pm. They will be open late on Motzei Shabbos, from 10 pm – 3 am, and Sunday open until 2 am.
Crews were seen around the neighborhood all through the night Thursday into Friday, as Con Edison works to repair the electricity of thousands of customers after the recent blackouts caused by electrical fires.
Manhole fires were still seen breaking out in the neighborhood, residents reported. One was reported at 1:30 am at Carroll Street and Albany Avenue, and one at 6:30 am on President Street and Albany Avenue.















Looking at these videos, I did not realize this was such a big job and Im sure there were more like this throughout the city.. Kudos to Con Ed for all their work on this!!
