Crown Heights Chaverim saved the day on Sunday for the popular “Match me a Chavruasa” learning program.
Rabbi Kalman Weinfeld, the organizer of the program which pairs men and bochurim for learning each evening at Bais Eliezer Yitzchok Shul in Crown Heights throughout the summer, was heading out on Sunday to pick up sushi for the tonight’s program, he told COLlive.
“I realized that my car had a flat tire,” he said, “So I called Chaverim for help.”
Two Chaverim volunteers showed up in “less than 6 minutes,” Rabbi Weinfeld said.
Chezky Goldberg and Heshy Goldberg immediately got to work, and had patched Rabbi Weinfeld’s tire in a couple of minutes.
They then followed Weinfeld to the repair shop, to make sure he didn’t get stuck on the way.
“These ‘Mitzvah boys’ saved the day for the Chavrusa program, so that I was able to pick up the sushi and refreshment for tonight,” Rabbi Weinfeld said.
The Chavrusa learning program launched in Crown Heights this summer at Beis Eliezer Yitzchok Shul on Kingston Avenue l’iluy Nishmas Rabbi Don Yoel Levy OBM.
Participants gather to learn in a Chavrusa setting, and then enjoy refreshments.
The learning takes place every evening at 8:30 pm. The Chavrusa learning is followed by Maariv at 9:15 pm.
Buffet dinner served nightly.
Those interested in learning with a chavrusa during the evenings can contact Rabbi Kalman Weinfeld via WhatsApp at 347-515-3232 and he will do his utmost to match you with a chavrusa.
