Crown Heights Breaks the Fast

After nightfall on the 17th of Tammuz, Mendy's restaurant on Kingston Avenue was bustling with people taking advantage of their 'recession buster' specials, and food was distributed to a grateful crowd in 770. Photos

You are a guy and you see things only through the eyes of the selfish guy that you are which is common for old school ppl like you.
Just imagine you happened to be born a female, would you think the same way?
Do you really think that your chauvinistic opinions are rooted in an unwavering adherence to hallacha and tznius which would not allow you to eat in a restaurant in which a female is eating? Don’t fool yourself cause you definitely haven’t fooled us

What?

Mendy’sof CH- the #1 stop for fresh, delicious food. The atmosphere and service is absolutely beautiful…( and always so clean) and it’s great that we have something like this in our community where foreighners and visitors can actually come and visit and have a place of such quality to eat at. And may Hashem bless the business birchavo, for they also do tremendous mitzvos… and to comment #3 it is so not eidel to talk nonesence and to even try to talk negative about a place where the Rebbe’s brocho stands strong!!!! cause times did change and try to look… Read more »

If you are such a good historian you would remember that the size of Mendys and ess and bentch were completly different. A girl would have to bump into many men in order to eat there, which is not the case of Mendys. Besides Ess and Bentch was a kind of hang out for men, which mendys is not. Another differnce is Mendys serves a ‘girl’ friendly menu. Ess and bentch served kishka hamburgers and hot dogs. So bchavod, please dont attack.

Your comments are also an example of changed times. Sad.

That seems to be the general theme here. Every time someone make a comment about the lack of eydelkeit prevalent today in some places in our communities, the ones he speaks bout feel the “burning hat” and feel the need to justify their grobkeit with comments like “Go back to Iran,” and such.
It’s a sad commentary on our situation….

To “times have changed”. What are you talking about? Seriously can we all just grow up? A girl cant buy something to eat? Ess & Bentch was bringing Moshiach closer? Please give us all a break. Ok? The only thing Ess & Bentch was bringing closer was indigestion as we all know from its nick name Fress & Brech! So please keep your empty headed comments to yourself or any other genius who wants to hear it, but not here where you end up exposing how unintelligent you really are. And to the owners of Mendy’s keep up the good… Read more »

Go live in Iran…

Times have changed

On the same spot where Mendy’s is now, used to be a luncheonette called Ess & Bentch. In those days girls wouldn’t dare set foot in that place. It was right next to 770 an was reserved for Bochrim only. Girls would frequent the pizza shop further down Kingston Ave. How times have changed.

Lets break this fasting once and for all by doing the right thing.
