Over the past year, something meaningful has been growing quietly in Crown Heights.
The Crown Heights Crohns and Colitis Support was founded with a simple but important goal: to offer support, understanding, and community for individuals and families in Crown Heights living with Crohn’s disease or Ulcerative Colitis (also known as Inflammatory Bowel Disease or IBD for short).
or many years, people in our community who were searching for guidance or emotional support had to look to other communities to find resources. With the number of IBD cases rising in recent years, we have seen more and more people reaching out looking not only for medical information, but for connection, reassurance, and a place where they don’t feel alone. Creating a supportive environment within our own community has become more important than ever, so people with IBD do not have to struggle silently.
In response to this growing need, we are continuing to build opportunities for education, support, and meaningful conversation through peer support and monthly meetings. Our upcoming event will bring a leading physician, Dr. Michael Dolinger, who has revolutionized IBD care through the use of intestinal ultrasound, a non-invasive and highly accurate technology that is transforming how patients are monitored and treated.
Dr. Dolinger will share insights into the latest advancements in IBD care and what they mean for patients and families today. He will also discuss disease management in pediatrics and adults alike. At the end of the evening there will be an opportunity for attendees to have their questions answered.
Our hope is that through initiatives like this, no one in Crown Heights facing Crohn’s disease or Ulcerative Colitis will feel that they have to navigate the journey alone. For any questions or more information you can email us at [email protected].
