Mendel Greenberg of Detroit, Michigan and Levi Greenberg of Alaska have teamed up to compose and sing a new niggun in honor of the Rebbe‘s upcoming birthday on Yud Alef Nissan.
The two cousins have been composing melodies for a few years now, Mendel having composed 5 to date. For Levi, this is the 13th niggun he composed, the first was when he was only 8 years old.
For this year, the cousins teamed up and combined their talents to compose a Niggun together.
The Niggun is set to words from kapitel 119 of Tehillim, which will be the Rebbe’s new kapitel for the next year. Chassidim have a custom to recite the chapter of Tehillim corresponding to the Rebbe’s every day, and each year, a Niggun is composed based upon lines from the kapitel.
The Niggun is accompanied by music by Meir Sasonkin of Ohio.
The Niggun is on the following words from the new Kapitel:
טוּב טַעַם וָדַעַת לַמְּדֵנִי כִּי בְמִצְוֹתֶיךָ הֶאֱמָנְתִּי.
מָה אָהַבְתִּי תוֹרָתֶךָ כָּל הַיּוֹם הִיא שִׂיחָתִי.
גַּל עֵינַי וְאַבִּיטָה נִפְלָאוֹת מִתּוֹרָתֶךָ.
