Rabbi Boruch and Adeli Zimmerman, with son Mendel, are the newest Shluchim in the state of Arizona, joining Chabad Oro Valley which serves the northwest suburbs of Tucson – Oro Valley, Marana and SaddleBrooke.
They are joining his elder brother Rabbi Ephraim and Mushkie Zimmerman. who established the Chabad center in their home in 2012 and are now moving into a 3,388-square-foot center in time for the new Jewish year.
Boruch, born in Chicago, learned at the Rabbinical College of America in Morristown, New Jersey, and received his smicha at the Rabbinical Seminary of Greater Fort Lauderdale in Florida. Adeli (nee Shabtay), from Los Angeles, will bring additional youth programming with activities, beginning with Sukkos.
The new facility will feature an expansive multi-purpose room with an office and a kitchen. Space is allocated for a welcome center, with tables for education. With no fixed seating and a capacity of 150, the area has the flexibility for festive occasions such as a big Purim party, or Passover seders, Rabbi Ephraim says.
They were appointed by Arizona’s Head Shliach Rabbi Zalman Levertov and Tucson’s Head Shliach Rabbi Yossie Shemtov.
