By Rabbi Chaim Danzinger
Today a little miracle occurred.
We accompanied Dina (a girl from our community), to the ancient Jewish cemetery of Rostov.
Gershom, a Moscow native, was by her side.
You see, today they decided to get engaged.
Deciding to establish a Jewish home is not an everyday occurrence in Rostov, or for that matter in Russia.
But prior to announcing their engagement, they asked us to accompany them to the cemetery.
They wanted to pray at the resting place of the 5th Lubavitcher Rebbe, who 100 years ago fought for Jewish continuity in the hardest of times.
They came to tell the Rebbe that his vision is coming to fruition.
“Although we may have not received a proper Jewish upbringing, our children certainly will.”
We are so proud of them.
Mazel Tov Dina and Gershom! We can’t wait to celebrate your wedding in our beautiful synagogue.
What a beautiful way to celebrate one of many simchas together. Binyon Adi Ad
Mazal tov!
