Given the recent developments of continued positive cases in our community, many of which are associated with 770, and given the inherent crowded indoor mixing nature of 770, we strongly advise that all people avoid davening in 770 for the time being.
There is significant risk of contracting the virus in 770 currently.
We would like to stress that even those who previously had the virus or have antibodies cannot consider themselves at no risk. Those who are older or at risk, or who live with or interact with those in this category, are particularly warned against davening there for the time being.
Wishing everyone a very good Shabbos,
– The Gedaliah Society, in conjunction with Dr. Rosen.
What are the rules for rosh hashana and Yom Kippur in 770
Did you not just read to stay out of 770? Nothing is changing for RH and YK…if anything it will be much much worse….more people are arriving daily and none of them have followed protocol…
Every other seat will be empty…
How does that help? You are inside and there are no masks and disease is rampant
Unfortunately, there are none.
The gaboyim aren’t saying anything.
Once again, they are caving to the bochurim.
I think we daven 2 hashem and not bow down to a little bug that is the excuse for control by whoever to take over our lives. So all of a sudden a tiny bug is such a big deal!!!! How about following very carefully the laws of g- d.
The same Hashem who said to daven with a minyan, said guard your life comes first! Its not about what makes you feel “good” its about real Halacha!
Tell that to the 50+ that lost their lives in adar and nissan.
What about the הלכות of פקוח נפש?
These are not politicians who are telling us to stay away these are the drs who are treating or community.
Following the laws of g-d means ונשמרתם מאד לנפשותיכם.
The Torah that tells us to daven to Hashem and to do so with a minyan, is the same Torah that tells us to watch our health. It’s not an “either or” situation. The doctors and rabbanim are not advising against davening with a minyan, rather they are advising to avoid a certain place for the time being… Probably because people were not adhering to that mitzvah to guard your health…
Your post is outrageously insensitive and incredibly insulting and offensive! I suggest you pay a visit to a few people who are davening without loved ones this RH because of this ‘tiny bug’!! It is a big deal!!
You can start with the laws of venishmartem meod and follow it with the law of ahavas Yisroel. Perhaps explore the laws of lo saamod al dam reiecha and v’chai bohem. You might find that you’re actually allowing hashem and his laws to control your life – not a little bug.
Those who are so busy with where they must daven because they are so holy pick and choose which mitzvos they follow. The value of every single life comes first! Stop endangering others…that comes before your spirituality
YRy not in touch with reality
What? What? What? What? What?
On Yomtov because there will be many unmasked people coming from all over, and general lack of sanitation.
No one is acting as if there is a pandemic. Disease is rampant in our community and it is our own faults.
will 770 be closed? By extension, this is placing the entire community at risk.
Where is the leadership?
If you close 770, the visitors will spread to all our small shuls. Better keep them all in one big Shul, 770, and we’ll stay far away.
completely agree
Most doctors strongly encourage antibody testing. Now it’s implied in this letter that you have to behave the same whether or not you have antibodies.
What is a practical implication of antibody testing then? That you are “less likely” to get it? What does it practically mean? Is there a data that suggests that reinfections happened to people who had antibodies?
Yes, there were confirmed cases of reinfection if you were following the previous updates.
This is new for everyone. We are all figuring this out for the first time.
We used to think antibodies meant you are safe, and now we see otherwise. Or at least that we can not say that antibodies means you are definitely safe.
Did reinfections happen to people who had antibodies?
I would like to see the Rabbonim put out an emergency letter with guidelines.
If 770 is indeed so dangerous, how can they allow it to be open if this a matter of pekuach nefesh? If they see the rules aren’t being followed and can’t be enforced…. the proper and responsible thing to do is to unfortunately close 770 again and not take any chances.
The Rabbonim said a hundred times already to listen to the Docters…
Medical professionals have spoken. Now do the right thing and close 770. Maybe, just maybe, we stand a chance of keeping schools open and avoiding unnecessary deaths in our community rchm”l.
The schools and shuls will be closed once again when there are korbonos. And we know that is a sure thing because of own actions. The Israelis and other guests do not belong here. The indoor simchas and parties and socializing as well as lack of masks and safeguards all brought us to where we are…on the brink of another disaster. How sad that even with the writing on the wall people refuse to listen
Does the medical leadership referee to above care to offer an opinion in regards to Cuomo strongly considering executive order mandating the flu vaccine from ages K-12 and most likely higher education with NO non medical exemptions! Why isn’t this breaking story all over the secular media being reported I ours? Some of you commented last year that there is no such thing as a ” religious exemption” to vaccines and that those who utilized this were “taking advance” when they tried to warn you the removal of the sole exemption NYS had at the time would open the door… Read more »
The rabbonim have repeatedly stated that the opinions of medical professionals should be followed when it comes to the pandemic. They should stand by that statement: if the doctors say that 770 isn’t safe, then it should be closed rather than relying on individuals to choose whether to follow this advice. The entire community is in danger of having to be locked down again if cases continue to rise. Let’s prevent it from getting to that point.
I hope the Rabbonim put out a letter asap before slichos motzei shabbos.. The last thing we want is c’v people who have covid saying L’chaim and dancing in large groups in 770
Torah tells us that in medical issues we must listen to the medical expert. The issue here, this virus is so new that there are no experts on it. Therefore, the doctor may know the same as the farmer. So in such a case, why must we listen to the doctors?!
From Alter Rebbe Shulchan Aruch (או”ח תרי”ח,ט)
“9 . If a doctor says that he is not knowledgeable about the patient’s illness, he is like any other person and his opinion is of no consequence when he says that the sick person must eat or that he does not know.”
We dont need to go from one extreme to the other. Safety measures can be enacted without closing down 770. I would suggest that only those with antibodies and under 65, be allowed in, and only with masks.
close 770 for slichus
Close 770 immediately. Did you see what was going on all shabbos?
Do the right thing before we start with the funerals again
Why is there silence? Why isn’t anyone talking about the very effective treatments out there? How did we become so politically correct that we can’t speak about a treatment that BH saved lives? And if HQN isn’t available (R”L) why isn’t anyone talking about quercetin ? We know hundreds in CH that have BH benefited – so why the crazy silence on this!

Why is #Hydroxychloroquine still a thing for #COVID19? If it were any other drug, the drip-drip-drip off negative studies, first observational and now more and more randomized controlled trials, would have sunk it long ago. Truly, HCQ pushers resemble a cult.
The problem with that argument is that #Hydroxychloroquine advocates tout the drug as a miracle cure. They’re not saying it has a modest effect. They’re saying it’s a “game changer” to end the pandemic. Existing studies have certainly been sufficiently powered to rule that out.
