André François Giroux, Consul General of Canada, visited Our Big Kitchen with his staff Michael O’Donnell and Gabrielle Bizier, to better understand the work done in OBK to support the vulnerable in Sydney, Australia.
The Consul General was hosted by Laya and Rabbi Dr Dovid Slavin, whose parents were welcomed to Canada after the war when they were stateless – Canada has a large and very active Jewish community with close ties to the Australian Jewish community.
Discussions centered on the ongoing Chabad involvement in Canada particularly Schools and camps for boys and girls.
The Consul General committed his further involvement in joint projects with OBK going forward.
