NYC Councilmember Carlina Rivera, who is running to represent the 10th district in Brooklyn for congress, visited Rabbi Aaron Raskin and his son Rabbi Yankel Raskin at Chabad of Brooklyn Heights and Congregation Bnai Avraham.
Rivera, who has visited the Holy Land of Israel, expressed her support for Israel’s battle for survival. She said she was committed to battling antisemitism and the anti-Israel BDS movement on campus and elsewhere.
Rabbis Raskin thanked her for her supportive views and went on to discuss the importance of a Moment of Silence in public schools and the Seven Laws of Noach which promise a more peaceful and just world.
According to a recent poll, Rivera is currently tied with Assembly Member Yuh-Line Niou for the lead with 16% each among likely Democratic primary voters, City & State reported.
Other candidates are Daniel Goldman, Rep. Mondaire Jones and Assembly Member Jo Anne Simon. Former New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio dropped out of the race.
