Longtime community affairs officer of the NYPD 71st Precinct, Detective Vinnie Martinos, was promoted at a ceremony Tuesday at Police Headquarters to Detective First Grade.
Martinos, a known fixture in the Crown Heights neighborhood for his 28-year career in the NYPD 71st Precinct, is always there for the community, helping to keep residents and visitors safe.
He is dedicated to assisting with crime prevention, event coordination and communal affairs, and has been a longtime friend to the Jewish community of Crown Heights.
Present at his promotion were community members and colleagues.
Devorah Halberstam who has worked with Det. Martinos for decades, was “so very happy” to see Martinos get this promotion.
“Detective Martinos is so worthy of this,” Halberstam said. “He has been an integral part of the Crown Heights neighborhood for 28 years. His commitment and dedication to the community have been outstanding and a true example to all new officers of what a real cop is.”
