Tens of Thousands of soldiers in the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) will be forced to be on active duty during the holidays this Chanukah, just like every other holiday. In order to maintain protection for the State of Israel, soldiers must sacrifice their own time to remain vigilant on behalf of the entire country.
These soldiers are left alone, away from their families, and away from the comforts of home, all to maintain protection for the rest of the population.
Next Generation IDF (NGIDF) is constantly working to give gifts and more to these soldiers. NGIDF is currently working on a massive undertaking to show support and solidarity with these soldiers for Chanukah 2021.
Established in 2010, NGIDF is embarking on a new project, called Project Chanukah 100. The goal of the project is to support 100 bases with over 100,000 active IDF soldiers with a showing of love and caring through gift packages and more.
The encouragement the soldiers get from this attention is paramount to their morale. One soldier said, “Words cannot describe the gratitude I have for all the volunteers in NGIDF. Their classes, meals, and events have enhanced my service in the army.”
NGIDF: Year Round Support for Soldiers
Next Generation IDF shows support for soldiers in the IDF throughout the year. Whether it is the mega concert for soldiers at the Kotel during selichot, various educational workshops, or gifts, meals and services by the Jewish Holidays, NGIDF is a major part of each soldier’s life in the army.
Project Chanukah 100
Project Chanukah 100 came to light through the dedicated staff at NGIDF. By partnering with communities, shuls, and other organizations throughout the world, NGIDF plans to support 100 bases and 100,000 soldiers.
The concept is simple. Each base sponsor accepts upon themselves to raise money for a base. Then they reach out to family and friends, and members of their community, and together, they band together with others around the world, taking part in one of the most unifying events in a long time.
People from all walks of life will join together. All different backgrounds, different religious leanings, and more – all to show a wave of massive support for the soldiers of the IDF who are doing so much to protect everyone in the holy land of Israel.
