‘Coming of Geulah’ Painting Wins 5th Annual Jewish Street Art Fair

The 5th Annual Jewish Street Art Fair took place this week in Crown Heights, right in front of the Jewish Children’s Museum.

The event featured live music and showcased a diverse and varied collection of Jewish art. The fair was hosted by The Leviim Jewish Art Gallery Of Brooklyn, situated in Crown Heights, which boasts hundreds of paintings from around the world and North America. It proudly features the works of over 30 artists and was founded with the aim of highlighting artists and promoting creative expression within the community and beyond.

This year’s Geulah Art Competition was won by Sarah Chyrek, a 21-year-old resident of Crown Heights. The esteemed panel of judges included Moshe Frank from the Leviim Jewish Art Gallery and David Levine.

Sarah, who is set to embark on Shlichus this year to work in New Jersey, titled her winning masterpiece “Coming of Geulah.” She elaborated on the significance of her creation, saying, “This painting is a convergence of four different elements symbolizing the arrival of Geulah: the shofar, the eagle, the city of Yerushalayim, and the lion and sheep, symbolizing peace, with the Beis Hamikdash at the center.”

Sarah continued, “My intention was to evoke a sense of life and excitement surrounding the coming of Moshiach, achieved through intricate details and vibrant colors.”

The annual street fair competition has grown to become a highly sought-after accolade, and its impact is felt throughout the entire year. Sarah expressed her gratitude, saying, “Winning this competition is both an honor and a privilege, and I’m so grateful for the opportunity to share my artwork with everyone. Much of my art draws inspiration from the beauty of Yiddishkait and daily life. When painting, my primary goal is to convey emotion and capture the essence of the moment, allowing viewers to connect with and feel what I aim to express.”

Sarah plans to continue her art as she starts her Shlichus in the Jersey Shore. Sarah has also illustrated 3 children’s books, worked with CKids and other orginizations.
