A new book for children about baking Matzah in secret in Samarkand has been released in time for Pesach.
Based on the true story told by the Chosid Rabbi Hillel Zaltzman, as described in his best-seller “Samarkand – The Underground with a Far-Reaching Impact,” the illustrations tell the gripping tale of how Jews harvested the wheat and produced the Matza to maintain their traditions.
Children will be mesmerized by the story of how, under the noses of the strict KGB agents, the Samarkand Underground attempts to do the impossible: bake high-quality Matzos with the strictest kosher standards, without any compromises.
Kids will love to join young Hil’ke and Luzik, get to know Mr. Ulman Aka, the old Rabbi Refael, and the heavy IZH-49 motorcycle. Follow them on a journey of self-sacrifice and dedication to the fulfillment of Mitzvos under the iron fist of Communist Russia…
The books are available in English, Hebrew and Yiddish in all Crown Heights bookshops.
