Your donning Tefillin has already affected another Jew
positively (see #16 above). I’m sure it will ultimately affect
you, too, if it hasn’t already in the same way, as well as
many, many more!
You actually never denied your true faith, but never lived within it. As you grow older there’s a nagging feeling of what you truly are in the end…A Jew. Be proud Anthony.
Watching Anthony Bourdain putting on Tefillin was just the trick to get me to start putting on Tefillin on again.
Big Kiddush Hashem!
To say that this one mitzvah performed by a Jew did nothing – is to deny basics of Yidishkeit. Any mitzvah done by a Jew on any moment is eternal and absolute and makes connection of the lower world to Hashem and person him/herself to Hashem. Bsides, are you all prophets to say it did nothing to him? maybe for a visible change he needs many more mitzvohs to do, but to say it did nothing is not to believe in Yidishkeit. To say that mitzvoh has no effect – is pure apikorsus. Of course he is hardly a tzaddik… Read more »
Most of the show’s portrayal:
“The Israelis know what they’re doing to the poor palestinians – intentionally keeping them locked-up and oppressed behind walls and checkpoints. If only the Israelis would… there would be peace”
Yep, it’s a show by CNN for CNN-lovers.
This is an excellent illustration of mivtzah tefillin. The guy walks up and is politely “attacked” by a chabadnik. I got the impression that the Chabadnik doing the wrapping does this so often that he was a bit distracted, going through a certain repeated motion that he does hundreds (?) of times a day. Anthony is filming a show. This makes for good material. Sure he’ll do it. But what actually happened? Did anyone really connect with the Divine? Is that what G-d really wants? a Tefilin machine? it all seemed so mechanical and ritualistic but void of meaning. It’s… Read more »
he wasnt moved in the slightest. he is saying that his very essence is doubt, he distances himself from certainty. and the devotion and non judgmental acceptance these people had on behalf of g-d, caused him to acknowledge the extent of his masquerade, his ‘treachery’ to this religion.
so it’s beautiful that they put on Tefillin on him Vechulu,
but he wasn’t really very moved by the experience.
Anthony was saying that his treachery is complete, meaning, the certainty of the guy trying to put tefilin on him drove him nuts with his absolute certainty.
saw him live, speaking here in the mall, he was not very nice about Israel.
No words just wow!!!!!!
you see a jew who never stepped in a shul and agrees to put on tfilin like that!!
Wowwww bhhhhhhhhhh this is amazing- one yid closer to yiddishkeit!! and one more step closer to moshiach!
They don’t give a very good impression on Jews – they are all supporting the arabs, muslims etc
Both of them!
Go, Anthony! Your neshama is alive and well!
G O C H A B A D !
BEAUTIFUL!
‘CHINUCH!’
