A video clip of the Rebbe that only lasts 11 seconds was raising the spirits of Chassidim as it was circulated on social media on Wednesday.
The clip is said to have been taken on 19 Tishrei (5749) 1989 in the main shul of 770 Eastern Parkway – Lubavitch Headquarters in Crown Heights.
The Rebbe is seen heading to leave the shul and then suddenly stopped to energetically dance in his spot, leading the Chassidim gathered to do the same with enthusiasm.
It was said that the Rebbe offered the gesture to Chabad Rabbi Abraham Hecht, president of the Rabbinical Alliance of America – Igud HaRabanim and Rov of Congregation Shaare Zion of Brooklyn.
“In the sicha that the Rebbe spoke that night, he spoke about dancing with the feet,” one chossid who was present recalled. “I stood really close and clearly remember the Rebbe’s feet rising just like at Hakafos.”
It is very clear that the Rebbe turns to Rabbi Avrohom Dov Hecht to raise feet!
Was it 1989 (5750)? or 5749 (1988)?
I think the date needs to be rechecked, 770 wouldnt bve so quiet on tishrei
it is tishrei, the paroches is white.
It is tisrei, the paroches is white.
The date is the 18th of Tishrei 5749 (September 29 1998) after the nightly Sicha (which was after Mariv)
It is 100% Rabbi Avrohom Hecht (not JJ). Besides it being very clear from the video people who where there recall it being Rabbi Avrohom Hecht
