A van was seen driving around the Jewish section of Crown Heights before Shabbos covered with themes of the Christian faith and playing the popular music of the Miami Boys Choir.
The doors of the van were wide open as it drove around the neighborhood.
A COLlive reader said that the presence of the van was disturbing to her, since Jewish children may be tempted to enter the van after hearing the cheerful Jewish music.
Another resident says that she has seen the van on many Fridays in the past few months, as well as on Erev Yom Tov during this past Tishrei.
It was unclear whether the van belonged to missionaries or were simply enjoying the Jewish music.
VIDEO:
They had this on Thursday on eastern parkway. It’s for sure missionary style tactic.
We drive around with vans blasting music and scaring the Christian kids.
Hysterical 🤣
It’s not Miami boys choir, it’s some other random choir.
It’s Yeshiva boys choir
No it’s the Yeshiva Darchei Torah 5th grade choir.
These boys are 20 years old now lol
was playing Avraham fried as well, he says on his album that his music may not be played on shabbos, so he can technically be sued,
That would only apply for Yiddin’
Kids should not be entering vans wether they belong to Jewish people or missionaries. So it doesn’t really matter who the van belongs to, it’s the education that the kids are receiving.
And the education must and should come from the parents. They must teach their kids right from wrong and daven that at they grow up they choose the right path. And now matter what happens they should love the child/children unconditionally
Ive seen it every friday the last few weeks, and they play it after shabbos comes in as well. I think its pretty clear that they are missionaries, especially going through a jewish neighborhood
Same van was driving around on Friday night with Avram Fried music BLARING out of it. Disconcerting to say the least
I saw this about 2 weeks ago- friday afternoon (30min before shkiah) driving down on Eastern Parkway!
I see that van all that time, and was always wondering what it is.
This van has been here for a number of Fridays, succos too. Driving by Troy and eastern parkway.
It drives erev after licht benchen time and motzei.
It was just driving by Eastern Parkway
I’d rather them drive around playing Christian songs
I find it freaky and annoying and highly inappropriate
I wish there were legal grounds to stop it or some way to stop it
Maybe the Miami Boys Choir can make up sheva mitzvos songs for tbe non Jews to play
Imagine if they didn’t have tires on the van. Just imagine.
No Jew should go ahead and have the guts to get so mad that they lash or steal the tires. But there’s nothing wrong with imagining
Every Friday night on Shabbos after candle lighting we hear it extremely loud. It also came by tonight, motzei Shabbos. They seem to have gotten hold of the shalom aleichem song. My opinion: I believe they are trying to make it sound like WE are disturbing the peace. They play it extra loud, sometimes really blasting in front of apt bldgs around Troy and further out and Show on the sides of the van a video of Jewish boys in the song. As the wildness, roaring unmuffled cars (which is ticketed in neighborhoods where there is law and order) continues… Read more »
They are trying to incite the hostile neighbors against us by disturbing the peace with the terrific noise that appears to come from ‘the Jews’. Of course they make noise all the time but they’d like to be able to say ‘the Jews did it’. I guess they’ll get tired of it and eventually find other ways not to have a life.
Abviosly. They look for provocation. This is a new tactic of missioners.
Just another tactic to attract vulnerable Jews, R”L.
We can only hope and pray that it doesn’t happen. It is out of our hands
No one knows exactly why the driver does this. Maybe missionaries or showing support for the Jewish people. All I know is is that we have a choice: start a whole who-knows-what or ignore it! It’s a choice! Perfectly understandable why Jews would get mad or feel uncomfortable. It does make us Jews look bad. Non Jews do indeed get upset that there Jewish music blasting
