Chovevei Torah – Zal tested on Hilchos Shabbos

After four months of an intensive Hilchos Shabbos program, a group of Bochurim from Chovevei Torah – Tomchei Temimim were tested by the Rav of Crown Heights, Rabbi Yosef Braun Shlit”a, in the first of a series of multiple tests.

The new one-of-its-kind Halacha program was launched by Rabbi Chaim Polter, and entails a rigorous curriculum that is structured in the order of the thirty-nine Melachos. The curriculum includes the entire process of Halacha, including the original quotes in the Gemara and Rishonim, the rulings of the Shulchan Aruch, Ram”a and subsequent Poskim, and the discussions of contemporary Poskim regarding the application of Halacha to modern-day circumstances.

In addition to spending a minimum of an hour and a half each day to study, and participating in periodic Shiurim, Talmidim were required to receive an average of %80 on a series of demanding written tests, to participate in the test by Rabbi Braun.

After four months of exhaustive studying and reviewing, the Talmidim mastered the first five of the thirty-nine Melachos, and were tested by Rabbi Braun.

During the test, the Talmidim demonstrated an astonishing fluency in the Melachos that they studied. As Rabbi Braun jumped from topic to topic, Talmidim were quick to respond with specific quotes from dozens of Poskim concerning each topic.

Rabbi Braun noted that he was deeply impressed by the immensity of the Talmidim’s familiarity with Halacha, and he wished them Hatzlacha in their studying the next Melachos.
