Children Battling Cancer Visit the Rebbe’s Ohel

Dozens of children and teenagers battling cancer enjoyed a summer trip to New York that was arranged by the Rachashei Lev cancer support center in Israel.

Thanks to the support of philanthropist and businessman Rabbi Dudi Farkash, the group was treated to ten days of exhilarating fun, leaving behind the pain and fears of treatments and medical procedures.

The group was graciously hosted at Farkash’s residence in Monsey, and each day of the trip was packed with outings and tours to a variety of attractions in the New York area.

The joy and bonding the kids experience on trips like these fill them with renewed strength to believe in themselves and continue their fight for life.

“Our goal is to help these heroic children forget their illnesses and experience the joy of life as much as they can,” said Shimi Geshayid, a senior member of Rachashei Lev. “While doctors remove the disease from the child, we at Rachashei Lev remove the child from the disease!”

The most impactful part of the trip was visiting the Rebbe’s Ohel. With rapt attention, the children listened as Farkash described the power of emunah and what davening at the Ohel can achieve.

After putting on tefillin and writing notes with their requests, the children read their notes at the Ohel together with those of their friends being treated for similar illnesses at medical centers throughout Israel.

With big smiles and enormous gratitude, the happy children returned to Israel after receiving their special gifts, including one boy who received free tefillin after committing to putting them on every day.
