Chernigov Under Russian Attack; Shluchim Reportedly Flee

Dozens of people have been killed in Russian missile strikes on Ukraine’s second city, Kharkiv, officials say.

Thick black smoke could also been seen billowing from a destroyed shopping center in the city of Chernigov, 150 km north of Kyiv.

A missile struck a residential building in Chernigov, the State Communications Service said on Monday.

A woman was injured in the attack.

Video shared by Ukrainian media showed two lower floors of the apartment on fire. Those in the building were rescued and the blaze was put out.

The local Shluchim, Rabbi Yisroel and Alizah Silberstein, who had been assisting and offering shelter in their home and Chabad Center to 35 community members, have reportedly fled from the city during the intense fighting.

They have been reported to have fled with their children and community members, making the dangerous and difficult journey in the city which is currently surrounded by Russian troops.
