More than fifty Chabad children who do not attend Chabad Day Schools are participating in a once-a-week Cheder class online.
Utilizing the online platform from the Nigri International Shluchim Online School, where today almost 1000 young shluchim learn, the Online Cheder is an afterschool program that teaches Chabad children about their Yomei Depagra, Toldos Chabad, Chassidus on the Parsha, and instills within them a chassidishe pride and appreciation. The program includes a weekly class and special farbrengens for Yomei Depagra, forming a community of friends living around the world sharing the same experience.
“We felt it was time to expand and offer something to Bar Mitzvah age boys who could also benefit” said Mrs. Chaya Margolin, the principal of the Online Cheder.
Due to high demand, the Online Cheder has now expanded to include a Bar Mitzvah course that focuses on covering the Bar Mitzvah maamer in eight weekly sessions. Tutoring will also be available to help your son learn the maamer by heart and prepare for all other aspects of his Bar Mitzvah. To learn more, click here.
“So far, our son loves the Online Cheder and comes back with a tremendous amount of knowledge. There’s always more that kids can learn and he’s learning more Chassidus then I learned as a child.” said Rochel Gordon, of Kings Meadow, Australia whose son learns in the online cheder. And it’s a whole variety of subjects that the cheder students get to learn. “They cover a large amount of information in only one hour with stories, niggunim, Tanya bal peh and more. The teacher is dynamic and interesting and inspiring,” added Dassy Cotlar, Raleigh, NC whose daughter learns online.
And parents and children could not be happier. Devorah C from California, who has a son and daughter in the Online Cheder put it this way: “The Cheder class is going very well. The principles of the class are clear and effective and enabling my son to thrive in the online environment. My son loves this class and he is very engaged in it weekly. I don’t have anything that I have observed that should be tweaked. The Rabbi is very engaged and charismatic in the class and my son is always eager to discuss what he learned.”
Great program
