Of course you wear a Yarmulka, daven several times a day and are a frum Yid (or maybe not), but can you honestly say (to yourself) that you fully trust Hashem, especially in challenging circumstances?
Let’s not kid ourselves: Having true Bitachon (absolute trust in Hashem) is no easy thing. It doesn’t automatically come with doing Mitzvos or learning Torah. It’s hard work.
Many Jews, until faced with some major life crisis, dilemma or frightening circumstance will hardly give this question much thought. After all, if everything is going well, your degree of trust is not an issue.
But, shouldn’t we develop and nurture our power of Bitachon (trust) even without an urgency? And even in a pressing situation, will you truly have what it takes?
If you’re ready to take a journey into your soul and want to strengthen your Neshama-power of Bitachon, this is a perfect time.
Beginning Parsha No’ach 5779, Chayenu will be serializing a fresh edition of “Sha’ar HaBitachon” (The Gateway to Trust in Hashem), an excerpt from “Chovos Halevovos” (Duties of the Hearts – חובות הלבבות).
The Chovos Halevovos was authored by 11th century scholar and philosopher, Rabbeinu Bachya Ibn Pekuda of Spain. It was first translated from Arabic to Hebrew by R’ Yehuda Ibn Tibbon. More recently it was published – with an English translation by Daniel Haberman – by Feldheim Publishers.
This eye-opening, inspiring work by the great Sage Rabbeinu Bachya, is like a journey into a brand new world, delving into the depths of the spiritual realms in a down-to-earth, step-by-step manner that leaves the reader marveling at the clarity and scope of the author’s teachings.
This carefully constructed book is organized into 10 distinct “gateways”, the 4th of which is Trust.
The Chayenu series will be unique, including footnotes, collected by editor R’ Yitzchok Yarmush, from the Chassidic teachings of Chabad Rebbes, adding a dimension of insightful commentary to the classic English edition.
The Rebbe often recommended to people who would ask how to increase their trust in Hashem, to study this very Sefer and chapter.
