My name is Chaya Mushka, and I am in Kitah Alef in Bais Rivkah. Today, I had the most special Chumash party! In the morning, I got dressed in my uniform, but I wore a white shirt and my Shabbos shoes. I looked so pretty! When I got to school, I ate breakfast, davened, and then the fun began!
Our Morah explained to us that today we would be visiting all the Kitah Alef classes, and in each class we would be learning about a different day in Sheishes Yimei Beraishis. After learning about the day, we would do a special project.
My class first went to Morah Chaya’s class where we decorated cookies with yummy black and white icing. We made them, because on Yom Rishon Hashem created night (black) and day (white). My black and white cookie was delicious!
For Yom Sheini we went to Morah Mushky’s class where we poured blue and white sandy candy through a “funnel” into a clear tube. The bottom and top layers were blue and the middle was white, because Hashem separated the waters to form the ocean and the big blue sky with air in between.
For Yom Shlishi, we made cute grass heads with Morah Baily. We planted seeds in earth, and I can’t wait for my seeds to grow into grass.
For Yom Revii, Morah Shira read us a story about the sun and moon. We colored our very own picture books. We learned why the moon only glows while the sun shines brightly.
Yom Chamishi, the fish in the sea! We decorated fish bowls with Morah Nechama Dina. We used stickers and highlighters and we even got a real fish to put inside it! I named my fish Goldie. My best friend named her’s Fishy.
At lunch, we felt so special! We finally got our lunch wish … falafel balls and salad, just like the big girls! For dessert, we got black and white ice-cream. It was so delicious!
The best part of the day was after lunch. Mrs. Feldman called each maidele up on stage to receive her very own Chumash. Now we know that each letter and word in the Torah is special, just like Rabbi Clapman, the Sofer, taught us.
I am so happy to be learning Chumash.
go nechama!
we all know morah chaya, morah mushky, morah nechama dina ,morah shira morah baily.(the order is acording to the days of the week -the arts and crafts they made) any way they are all really great -so have fun with your daughter in first grade next year.-in beis rivkah !!!
You rock, Morah Baylie!
I hope my daughter will have such an experience next year in first grade.
any child who has gone to bais rivkah knows miss/ morah baily vail, the bais rivka first grade teacher who every kid wants and will be lucky to have.
I’m so proud!
I firmly believe that any child who has Morah Baylie as a teacher, receives an enviable, healthy dose of Yirat Shamayim, knowledge, and a love for Judaism and knowledge. These kids are so lucky to have a teacher who makes a difference in “what’s wrong with our system” by taking the initiative to “do right,” one child, one class, at a time.
Great idea!
