Is this feature over now or will it continue after Sefirah? Would be nice to get all year. Mendel, are you working on any other things? Would love to hear more of you!!!
Mashinke, please, please!
if they do it again next year they should make him on it, I’d pay to hear what this guy sounds like backed by a full avermi G orchestra with choir and everything.
if this is the way it is sung on Nichoach then THATS the way to go. the “ba oonz in der heim” and the CD publicity and kvetch pros isnt what makes a niggun official. i hubmly say that when the Rebbe agreed that nichoach should be one of the 71 mosdos he knew exactly who to put in charge.
2nd-ly i cant agrre with you more regarding the 50 second intro.
If it’s on Nichoach that way, it would be hard to say it is “wrong”. Your Zayde sang it differently? Fine! So you sing it that way too, but that doesn’t mean everyone else is wrong. He clarified why he sang it a certain way so mistameh it is a valid way even if there are other valid ways. Beyond that he sang it in a truly inspired way. He really is feeling it and listening to him makes me feel it too. Yasher koiach. Let’s stop complaining and start appreciating the wonderful service he is doing for all of… Read more »
Hey Mendel. I really loved this one… Great nigun. Great interpretation.
LOL
very good
Believe Nichoach nigunim were checked by The Rebbe b4 release. Can someone of those days verify? I was young, but do recall that some mention was made of it at the time, but I may be off. So Markel basing on Nichoach, I beleive, did the right thing. What a hartzig singing and the niggun is certainly soul stirring! Yasher Koach for infusing us w/chassidishe “funk uhn fire”!
Mashinke, please please sing mashinke!
the link didn’t go through…
It is in fact on nichoach the way Mendel sings it, I just checked – but I think (and I think he is trying to make the same clear in his response) is that that doesn’t invalidate the other way because “yesh al mi lismoch” basically. I do like that he has enough humility not to think his is the only right way… and maybe others here should learn from that approach.
LOL
I think its sung in Gm, Mr. Markel however is singing in Am. NU NU!
In Nichoach it’s only sung once, so he did it right

must concur with rivkin…pending markel’s reply…
I knew this would come up lol … the way it is on Nichoach and the way I’ve heard many menagnim who know their stuff sing it is how I presented it, with only one rep of the 1st tenuoh. However, I’ve heard just as many (more actually) valid menagnim sing it with the 1st tenuoh repeated twice. I guess what it came down to was I had to pick one way or the other. Admittedly the other way is the more popular one these days, but being it is this way on Nichoach I decided to go with that.… Read more »

Please don’t take this the wrong way…. but you’re really cute…seriously adorable!
Rabbi Markel, great job! Please more Chabad “classics” like this one. maybe some from the Charitonovs. the best compositions around, hands down.
Thanks collive, i hope what Rabbi Markel said was a joke 🙂 please keep these coming!!
mayer rivkin sing this niggun at a farbrengen…even though mendel and mayer both perform it beautifully, i noticed a slight difference…mayer repeated the very first stanza twice and mendel goes right into the second…who is corredt?
how is it written in sefer hanigunim…and what do the other baalie menagnim out there say about this?
i think nosson orginaly learnt it from rabbi shloyme futerfas in oholei torah 4th grade
