This year, the Chassidus in Color Art Contest is back—and winners will be announced at a May 18th event at the Jewish Children’s Museum.
Submissions open on Rosh Chodesh Adar, March 2nd. Painters and digital artists of all experience levels across the Jewish world are getting to work on their newest masterpieces. They have until 11 Nissan, April 9th, to submit their work.
If their art makes it to the final rounds, they’ll see it prominently displayed for three weeks at the Betzalel Art Gallery or the Maor Art Gallery—in Crown Heights and Prospect Heights, respectively- with the opportunity to sell. Winners will receive cash prizes, as well as prizes sponsored by ArtToFrame and EZRI designer bags.
Here is a featured submission:
Naomi Kisilevich
“The Aleph That Called Forth the Wellspring”
Naomi Kisilevich is a mixed-media artist, educator, performer, and mother of two boys (ages 6 and 11). Her work weaves together Chassidic thought, Kabbalistic symbolism, and personal expression—offering a visual language for spiritual concepts that live in both the heart and the soul.
Naomi is a proud graduate of the inaugural year of Tzohar Seminary for Chassidus and the Arts, where she began blending her creative passions with Torah learning. She later went on to teach high school art, and today, she teaches 4th grade general studies at Lubavitch Hebrew Academy in Margate, Florida—where she brings the same depth and creativity into the classroom.
In addition to painting, Naomi is a professional face painter and the founder of her own successful company, bringing color and joy to community events throughout South Florida. Her creativity also extends into music—she leads school choirs and is a returning performer at the annual Mic Night, hosted by the Jewish Women’s Theatre Group of South Florida.
Naomi is also a two-year Whipple procedure survivor. Her experience with illness and healing has only deepened her awareness of the soul’s power, her sense of purpose, and her desire to express what cannot be said in words. Her latest work, “The Aleph That Called Forth the Wellspring,” is a deeply personal and mystical piece that reflects this inner journey—an image of Torah flowing from a cracked stone, of justice meeting humility, of a paintbrush becoming a bridge between the soul and Hashem.
“For me,” she says, “the brush is my vav—it connects the Divine to the Yechidah within me.”
