Crown Heights is gearing up to host another “Shabbat with Chabad,” also known as “Pegisha,” the Shabbaton for singles and couples in the Chassidic neighborhood of Brooklyn.
Taking place over the weekend of May 31- June 2, the Shabbaton is billed “Unlock your purpose… Discover your potential…”
Organizers said it will be a chance for singles and couples to get in touch with their deeper selves. “They will be helped to discover what really makes them tick, how they can manifest their best and how their personal journey towards self-discovery is a microcosm of the worldwide journey we are all traveling on together,” they said.
The Shabbaton’s lineup of dynamic educators and mentors will inspire and engage participants to find their ultimate purpose and take powerful steps towards reaching their goals.
Rabbi Yisroel Bernath, Shliach in Montreal, will be leading a workshop designed to help participants gain clarity on their real needs and what they are looking for in a partner. He will also be drawing on his extensive experience as a relationship coach and successful matchmaker (50+ marriages) to share dating secrets and provide relationship advice. These discussions promise to be lively and even a little challenging.
Miriam Yerushalmi, counselor and author, will be empowering participants to access their inner healing potential, as well as providing tools for better communication in relationships. “If AT&T can upgrade theirs, we can succeed in upgrading ours,” she attests.
Also, on the team, will be Dr. Binyomin Abrams, a chossid and an award-winning, senior lecturer in Chemistry at Boston University. He will be sharing his personal story of becoming a chassidic scientist and show how modern science is unlocking the secrets laid out in the Torah.
The Shabbaton is a wonderful opportunity to engage and connect with Jews from all over the US and Canada in a meaningful way, organizers said.
Participants get the opportunity to visit the Rebbe‘s private study and Ohel, as well as immersing in the unique atmosphere of Crown Heights. There is also an optional tour of the neighborhood, including visiting a scribe and a woman’s Mikva.
Past Shabbatons have had a profound impact on participants, as Mrs. Bracha Stuart from Warwick, Rhode Island, affirms, “I did not know, when I attended my first Shabbaton in Crown Heights, that it would be a life-changing experience. It was a first step on a spiritual journey.”
She continues, “I was awed by how a simple idea in Torah could reveal so many levels, and that teachings so ancient could be so relevant to today. This was the first time I kept a complete Shabbos, which felt amazing! I still remember how special that first Shabbos was, and how moved I was by both the speakers and other attendees.”
Thanks are extended to Rabbi Kasriel Kastel, Director of Lubavitch Youth Organization and Mrs. Laya Klein, who have been directing the Pegisha Shabbatons for over 50 years.
