Crown Heights icon “Charlie Buttons,” a longtime beloved neighborhood figure, celebrated his 80th birthday with a Farbrengen in 770’s Main Shul on Wednesday evening.
A regular at Sholom Zachors and Simchos around the neighborhood for decades, Charlie is one who brings much joy and laughter to all.
Community residents of all ages joined Charlie for the festive Farbrengen, wishing L’chaim to Charlie and blessing him with many more years of bringing joy to so many.
During the Farbrengen, Charlie told of his encounters with the Rebbe, and gave brachos to many in attendance. He was presented with a special gift – a framed photo of himself receiving a dollar from the Rebbe.
Charlie is currently a resident of the Bedford Center for nursing and rehabilitation in Williamsburg.
While he is in the Bedford Center, he has expressed that he would love to have visitors from the community. The address is 40 Heyward Street, Brooklyn, NY 11249. His room number is 111.
