The New York City mayor’s race plunged into chaos on Tuesday night when the city Board of Elections released a new tally of votes in the Democratic mayoral primary, and then later removed the results from its website due to what they called a “discrepancy.”
The results released earlier in the day had suggested that Eric Adams was leading rival Kathryn Garcia by a thin margin. It also suggested that Maya Wiley had been eliminated.
But just a few hours after releasing the preliminary results, the elections board issued a tweet citing a “discrepancy” in the report, saying that it was working with its “technical staff to identify where the discrepancy occurred.”

Around 10:30 p.m., the board finally released a statement, explaining that it had failed to remove sample ballot images used to test its ranked-choice voting software. When the board ran the program, it counted “both test and election night results, producing approximately 135,000 additional records,” the statement said. The ranked-choice numbers, it said, would be tabulated again.
Adams, the Brooklyn borough president, had a much larger lead a week ago, the morning after the primary, when he was ahead of Garcia by 10 points.
But Tuesday’s tabulation showed an additional 140,000 ballots since Election Day, prompting Adams to complain of irregularities.
“The vote total just released by the Board of Elections is 100,000-plus more than the total announced on Election Night, raising serious questions. We have asked the Board of Elections to explain such a massive increase and other irregularities before we comment on the Ranked Choice Voting projection,” Adams said.
After the results were withdrawn, Adams said:
“Today’s mistake by the Board of Elections was unfortunate. It is critical that New Yorkers are confident in their electoral system, especially as we rank votes in a citywide election for the first time. We appreciate the Board’s transparency and acknowledgment of their error. We look forward to the release of an accurate, updated simulation, and the timely conclusion of this critical process,” Adams said.
The Board of Elections website now says the unofficial ranked choice results will start on Wednesday.
But I’m sure that everything was fine with the presidential election.
Voting will never be the same again. “Thanks a lot” obama – we know you are behind this, hiding behind biden. The only solution, if they can find a way for voters to vote online, just like a recent development is for the written drivers test to be taken online.
Hopefully Mr. Anti-Semite (Aka Eric Adams) won’t win.
LOL
The Government can’t even count votes. How many 10s of millions of dollars were spent to do this.
Ad MOSAI! Vote Moshiach Now!!!
This wont be over when they get this part fixed on weds.
They didnt count absentee ballots yet!
I imagine they will get the most leftist anti semite as the winner after they play around some more with the ballots.
I knew this would happen with mail in ballots being allowed. We havent even started on them yet
lol
