A series of events took place this Chanukah in Ulm, Germany, bringing Jewish pride and the light of the holiday to many residents.
The events organized by Chabad of Ulm, led by Rabbi Shneur and Chana Trebnik, were joyful with hundreds of families of locals and Israeli ex-pats participating.
Many families lit Menorahs in the merit of the kidnapped hostages in Gaza.
A special event took place in the offices of the Ministry of Interior. A public Menorah lighting took place with the participation of the Minister of Interior and other government officials.
Another public Menorah lighting took place in front of the local Shul, despite pouring rain. Hundreds of local Jews, and many non-Jews as well, united in support of Israel at this event.
After the lighting, a Chanukah party took place in the community center for the members of the Jewish community.
During the party, each participant got the name of one hostage, and resolved to recite a chapter of Tehillim in their merit at least once a week.
The event ended in a prayer for the release of the hostages and for the success of the IDF soldiers protecting the land of Israel.
The final day of Chanukah, a car Menorah parade took place in the streets, bringing the light of Chanukah to all.
