Mrs. Chanah Halperin, a beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother from Toronto, Canada, passed away on 26 Iyar, 5784.
She was 91, just 2 weeks shy of her 92nd birthday.
Chanah was a descendant of R’ Aharon Hagadol of Karlin and of R’ Osher of Karlin as well as R’ Hershel of Berditchov. She was born to her parents, Rabbi and Mrs. Chaim Mordechai Rosenstein, a respected Boyan (Ruzhin) chossid in Tveria, Israel.
Chanah was also a descendant of R’ Yisroel Yafeh also known as the “madpis from kapost,” a great Chossid of the Alter Rebbe who printed the Alter Rebbe’s Siddur.
In 5711, She married Chazan Tzvi Halperin obm who served for many years as a chazzan in a large synagogue in Montreal, before retiring to Toronto in Ontario, Canada.
The couple had many Yechidus with the Rebbe at 770 Eastern Parkway. R’ Tzvi passed away in 2012.
She is survived by her children Rabbi Yaacov Halperin – Lakewood, NJ; R’ Daniel Halperin – Toronto, Ontario; Michal Davidowitz – Rochester, NY; and Leora Zewebner – Toronto; grandchildren, great- grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
