Rosh Av Bet Din from Tel Aviv and renowned Mekubal, Chacham Nissim Ben-Shimon spoke at the Merkaz Sepharad Chabad Shul in Crown Heights with words of inspiration and tips to help us prepare for the New Year.
Chacham Ben-Shimon, who is in New York for a few days, meeting Jewish communities in Monsey, Queens, Flatbush, Deal, NJ, and others, spent the full day Tuesday in Crown Heights as the guest of Rabbi Eliezer (Lazer) Avtzon and the Merkaz Sefarad Shul.
Despite a long day spent visiting and Davening for Klal Yisroel at the Rebbe’s room and Ohel, and after visiting the Rebbe’s library and 770 Broadcast room, the Rav came to the Merkaz Sefarad Shul to bless individuals and to provide inspiration and helpful hints how we can prepare ourselves for RH and the month of Tishrei.
The Rav spoke in Ivrit and his words were translated by HaRav Avtzon.
His tips included not waiting for RH or YK to do Teshuva, but to start right away, not to rely on others but rather to pray to Hashem with a broken heart, to be sincere and so much more. (To listen to his full speech, click the video below.)
Rabbi Yaacov Nimni of the Ner Menachem Shul on Empire Blvd then spoke of his relationship with the Rav’s father Chacham Mantzur Ben-Shimon ob”m and other family members, thanking the Rav for his inspiring words and adding words of inspiration of his own.
He was followed by Rabbi Eliyahu Matusof, whose parents were the Head Shluchim to Morocco and who lived their last years in the apartment that now houses the Shul Kol Yehudah and Beit Midrash Heichal Shlomo, names after Rabbi Shlomo Matusof ob”m.
Before closing the evening, Chacham Nissim Ben-Shimon rose to give a special Bracha to all those presents as well as those on live Zoom, and those watching now for a Shana Tova Umetuka and that Hashem should answer all our Tefilot, with the immediate revelation of Moshiach now.
Tefilat Arvit was then led by the Rav of the Shul, HaRav Avtzon in traditional Moroccan Nusach.
