After being closed due to Covid-19, Yeshiva Gedola Lubavitch London opened its doors again and will remain open at least until Tisha B’Av, the Menahel Rabbi M. Jacobs.
This was done in line with government guidance and additional consultation with the relevant educational and health departments, the Menahel Rabbi M. Jacobs informed COLlive.
There are certain restrictions in place, as per the government guidance, which is why there are a smaller amount of Bochurim than usual.
A beautiful Siyum Horambam was held recently where the Rosh Yeshiva, Rabbi Hertz, made the siyum via Zoom as he is in self-quarantine.
Rabbi Mendel Gordon also addressed the Bochurim via Zoom, as he is in quarantine as well, due to his recent trip abroad for a family simcha.
All the rest of the hanholo was present in person.
Rabbi Weinberg, a Rov from a local large shul addressed the Yeshiva, where he mentioned that he is jealous at us for having completed the Rambam, as he started a few times but hasn’t managed to complete it yet within one year, as per the Rebbe’s mivtsa.
“Overall, there is a beautiful atmosphere of learning in Yeshiva, where one can easily notice that everyone present is extra excited to be present, specifically due to the fact that they haven’t been able to for a long time,” Menahel Rabbi M. Jacobs said.
In London all schools are officially re-opening in full swing in September and as such the Yeshiva is no different and we fully expect be”h to be back to normal in Elul, when we are starting the new Zman.
