Israeli police have detained a resident of Be’er Sheva for the alleged defacement of external walls of local synagogues, including the city’s main Chabad House and the “Merkaz L’Tze’irim – Merkaz HaSoferim” Synagogue.
“Go to (serve in) the army,” she wrote on one of the centers, reflecting a populist claim among secular Israelis that religious Jews don’t serve in the Israel Defense Forces. On another, she wrote, “stop hadata (religionization).”
The incidents have sparked concern and condemnation from various sectors of society, highlighting the need for unity and religious tolerance in Be’er Sheva and beyond.
“Be’er Sheva is known for its tranquility and harmony among all sectors of the population,” commented a city council member. “The seeds of incitement are seeping into our community, but it is a fact that Chabad House symbolizes the opposite, spreading love for Israel and connecting all segments of the public.”
In response to the incident, Chabad of Be’er Sheva posted a photo of the graffiti on social media. “Why spray graffiti? You can simply ask nicely,” they wrote with a photo of Rabbi Zalman Gorelik, Head Shliach of Be’er Sheva wearing the IDF uniform during his army service.
Knesset member Almog Cohen was quick to comment on the incident, saying, “In the past 24 hours, two extremely serious incidents occurred in which slogans were sprayed on synagogues in Be’er Sheva. In a different reality, if such slogans were sprayed on a mosque or a church, the entire political and media establishment would be standing upright, condemning it, and rightly so.”
“However, when such a thing happens against Jewish synagogues, a deafening silence suddenly prevails in all media outlets. The Israeli media, the left, are not moved by such an attack,” Cohen added.
“Of course, I stand against any harm to any religious symbol, but unlike them, I advocate true equality and condemn this attack with full force.”

Rabbi Gorelick with all due respect is an exception.. Not the rule..
What’s your point ?
posting one picture of a religious Jew who served in the IDF doesn’t negate the fact that the majority of frum Jews take benefits from Israeli society – such as physical protection and financial benefits and stolen land – and contribute very little back. Israel is already being led by a corrupt leader and is moving dangerously close towards fascism and authoritarianism, not to mention that the entire foundation of Israel is grounded in racism, but it’s undeniably true that frum Jews benefit from aspects of Israeli society and do not contribute their fair share back.
What planet did you fall from? What kind of fascism and racism is Israel grounded in? And, as far as I’m aware, the Israeli government is one of the only democracies in that part of the world. Prove me wrong.
They actually do, the land belongs to us as G-d gave it to us. And Torah and Mitzvos that G-d gives us will protect the land and support those fighting physically.
Without Hashem we don’t stand a fighting chance to protect the land. Even our enemies recognize that m..
BH When you say “do not contribute their fair share back” what are your statistics or studies to support such a supposition? Even if we were to discount the basic “contribution” of maintaining the Jewish population of EY (check out the relative birth rates of the “religious” vs the “woke leftists” and the projections of every pundit who knows ANYTHING about numbers), they “contribute” in many, many ways. whether Zaka, hatzolo, Bikur Cholim, etc. Your talking point is at best simplistic and at worst cynical in its obvious “BIG LIE” (remember whose idea that was!!). You regurgitate Bubba Mayses with… Read more »
there is a reason why we dont serve in the army, and putting a picture of a shliach in a uniform is just hiding the fact.
