Rabbi Mayer Stambler of Warsaw is rushing. Pesach is less than two weeks away, and the fate of hundreds of Ukrainian Jews rests on his shoulders.
From the minute he wakes up, he is busy arranging food, beds, and medical care for two hundred refugees – not just for the first two nights of the seder, but for the entire Pesach.
“We are assuring refugees a very nice hotel so they can celebrate Pesach properly,” says Stambler’s brother, Rabbi Sholom Dov Ber. “This itself is a huge cost.”
The Stamblers have arranged for two hundred beds and kosher food for the entire Pesach, including chol hamoed. Chabad of Warsaw will provide the refugees with the highest standards of kosher and healthy food, including salads, eggs, chicken, and meat. They have also arranged toys and games for the children.
“From the very first days of the war,” Rabbi Sholom Dov Ber says, “Ukrainian refugees were welcomed into Chabad of Warsaw. And more are coming every day.”
“We need financial support to help people who are in real need,” Stambler says. One million dollars is needed to cover the next two months worth of emergency operations of food, accommodations, transportation, medical care, psychologists, and child care.
When refugees arrive with medical conditions, Stambler sends an ambulance to greet them at the boarder. The Stamblers ensure emergency medical care on hand for unexpected medical conditions. Today, a boy who is blind is arriving and a special emergency team is ready to greet him and assure him the best care possible.
Refugees are flooding Chabad of Warsaw every day, looking to them to fulfill their most basic needs. “We have a lot of bitchon,” says Stambler. “Our Jewish brothers and sisters reach out to support us, and we thank them in advance for helping us support these Jews who are in such desperate need.”
DAILY EMERGENCY OPERATIONS BUDGET

We urgently need to raise $1M to cover the next 2 months’ worth of emergency operations.
It is a matter of life and death for those who have already lost their country, their homes, and their loved ones.
Please give generously.
