Leaders from across the Jewish community, supporters, friends, and alumni of Chabad of the Valley gathered at the Hilton Universal City for a 50th-anniversary gala dinner, marking Chabad of the Valley’s Jubilee Year. The celebration honored five decades of spreading light, building communities, and inspiring Jewish journeys.
Since its humble beginnings in Encino, California, under the leadership of Rabbi Yehoshua Binyamin Gordon of blessed memory, Chabad has transformed the spiritual landscape of the greater San Fernando Valley, one of the largest Jewish populations in the diaspora. Today, 100 Rabbis and Rebbetzins across 32 vibrant centers continue to positively impact countless lives.
The gala recognized the collective achievements of all 32 Chabad centers with the Rabbi Joshua B. Gordon Lamplighter Award. The evening took an emotional turn when Israeli hostage Almog Meir Jan, recently rescued from Gaza in a daring mission, was introduced, prompting a standing ovation from the 650 attendees.
The event featured a poignant tribute performance by internationally acclaimed musical director Tomer Adaddi and his Kol Esperanza group from Israel, paying homage to hostages, soldiers, and brethren in Israel, followed by a keynote address by the Conejo Valley’s Rabbi Moshe Bryski.
Today Chabad of the Valley continues to be recognized as a model and standard bearer of success to the thousands of Chabad centers around the world, operating in 32 cities and college campuses across the Valley including its branches at: Chabad of Tarzana, Chabad of Encino, Chabad of Sherman Oaks, Chabad of Agoura, Chabad of North Hollywood, Chabad of Westlake, Chabad of Studio City, Chabad of Oak Park, Chabad of Woodland Hills, Chabad of Calabasas, Chabad of Northridge, Chabad North Hills, Chabad of Chatsworth, Chabad @ CSUN, Chabad of Ventura, Chabad of Thousand Oaks, Chabad at Porter Ranch, Chabad of Simi Valley, Chabad of S. Want to express gratitude to the Rebbe for sending Rabbi Yehoshua Binyamin Gordon of blessed memory and Rebbetzin as shaluchim to Encino which then spurred the establishment of the chain of Chabad centers across the Valley. I celebrate every day the achievements by watching Rabbi Gordon’s inspiring legacy of Chumash and Tanya classes as part of my daily chitas commitment. One of my greatest joys was actually visiting the Chabad center and actual room where Rabbi Gordon conducted his classes. Kol hakavod to all the rabbis and rebbetzins who daily inspire and continue the legacy and teachings of the Rebbe all in… Read more »
