Vaad Hatmimim
As the day of Gimmel Tammuz approaches us, we are all united with the will to strengthen our connection to the Rebbe. In Mesivtas, this will has turned into action.
“Hanochos” – a new program geared for Mesivta Bochurim to watch videos of farbrengens of the Rebbe and understand what the Rebbe is saying, has been launched by the Vaad Hatmimim – in conjunction with JEM – for six selected Mesivtas around the world.
The program is built in a way that a bochur who hasn’t yet watched a full farbrengen or a long video of the Rebbe beforehand, will – at the end of the six week program – be able to focus on watching a full Farbrengen of the Rebbe and understand what the Rebbe is saying.
Those participating in the Hanachos program will be viewing a Video of the Rebbe twice a week starting the first week with ten minute videos, and increasing each week with an additional ten minutes, culminating the final week by viewing a full hour long video, which totals 12 viewings and over 7 hours long of the Rebbe’s Farbrengens.
After each viewing, the Bochurim will then sit to write down their very own Hanacha on the the video they have just viewed.
The Hanachos will be marked and those which pass all twelve Hanachos will receive an automatic prize of $100 in Kehos, which will be given out at the closing event by Gimmel Tammuz in Crown Heights. The top three finals will win a Ticket to the Rebbe’s father’s Tziun in Kazakhstan for Chof Av.

The top three Hanachas of each week will be featured weekly in the new Hanachos magazine for all to see, along with articles and interviews about participating and watching the Rebbes Farbrengens.
“When you watch a video of the Rebbe speaking, saying a Sicha, a Mammar, a Farbrengen you are transported to a completely different place” said Rabbi Dov Shochet, Maggid Shiur in Toronto Mesivta. “It takes the viewer to a completely different level of a connection to the Rebbe”
Vaad Hatmimim’s Hanachos program is organized by Rabbi Tzvi Altein together with Tzvi Alperowitz and Boruch Ceitlin along with the Shluchim of the participating Mesivtas Chicago, Detroit, New Haven, Oholei Torah, Toronto and Tzfas.
Special mention goes to Arik Shemtov for his great assistance, as well as to Rabbi Zalman Oster, Menahel of Mesivta Lubavitch Toronto, for his constant support and encouragement.

Fascinating interview with Rabbi Jacobson. I learned many new things about the entire process that went into remembering and publishing the Rebbe’s talks. Really worth reading.
It would be useful for others as well.
