With Rosh Hashana less than a week away, chazan Yisroel Lesches has released a recording of Unesaneh Tokef set to the soulful Poltova Niggun.
“The first time I officiated as a cantor on the High Holidays, I noticed that the Poltova Niggun melody fit particularly well with the Unesaneh Tokef prayer,” Lesches said.
“Over the years, I’ve tweaked and melded the blend between the melody and the words into the version I am so grateful to be sharing today.”
Lesches is the Assistant Cantor of Manhattan’s Lincoln Square Synagogue. He will be leading the davening at Congregation Sons of Israel in Allentown Pennsylvania for the Yomim Noroim.
