The pioneering book “Talking Divorce,” recently published by Zalman Goldstein, and lauded by rabbis and therapists, was nominated one of three finalists in the category of Parenting and Family for the 34th annual Benjamin Franklin Awards.
One of the highest national honors for publishers in the United States, the prestigious award recognizes leading books across the secular marketplace by highlighting the best titles and trends in major publishing categories each year. Judged by more than 150 librarians, booksellers, and design and editorial experts, who weigh and evaluate more than 4,500 submissions in over 50 categories, the winners are books that exemplify professional standards, high-quality content, and innovative design. Gold winners in each category will be announced at an award gala on April 29, 2022.
Already a Benjamin Franklin Award Gold winner for his bestselling book “Going Kosher in 30 Days!” ($22.95, ISBN 978-1891293238), and a four-time Silver winner for his other popular titles, “The Sultan’s Trap” ($19.95, ISBN 978-1891293641), “Jewish Living Simply Explained” ($19.95, ISBN 978-1891293290), “The Silly World of Chelm” ($24.95, ISBN 978-1891293047), and “Abi Gezunt!” ($12.95, ISBN 9781891293023), Goldstein is no stranger to acclaim for his works.
“A lot of thought and effort goes into each book that I write and design,” said Goldstein, who over the past 25 years has self-published more than a dozen bestselling titles in areas of Jewish interest. “It’s therefore humbling and also gratifying to receive recognition from such a distinguished body of secular literary professionals. I hope it helps raise awareness about this important and sensitive topic, and also encourages others to write and publish on meaningful topics as well.”

As a mother of a child going through a miserable divorce, I just want to say this book is as good as they say it is. It should be required reading for every couple going through marriage difficulties or facing/seeking a divorce. It gives a realistic and honest picture of the whole parsha including insight on getting a marriage back on track if possible and helpful checklists for deciding if/when divorce is inevitable and lays out what’s ahead for them so they can proceed from a place of knowledge instead of vague hopes, dreams, and fears.
