“National Night Out” is an annual event organized by local Police Departments in cities across the United States.
The event serves as an opportunity for the local Police Department to honor the exceptional relationship the police and community share.
While the Chabad community of Santa Monica, CA takes part in the festivities every year, due to this year’s event taking place on Tisha B’Av, they were unable to run their annual kosher food booth.
Nevertheless, they were out in full force – despite the fast – helping scores of police officers, first responders, city officials, and regular attendees with putting on Teffilin, handing out neshek, and other Jewish literature.
“The Chabad presence enhanced the goal of the ‘national night out’ of creating a safer environment, through the participation of attendees increasing in Mitzvos,” Shliach Rabbi Levitansky said.
