CGI United, a premiere Chabad Camp for girls in Bushkill, PA, has announced a landmark $250,000 investment to expand its facilities and enhance its programming. The move comes in response to several years of growth and overwhelming demand, resulting in long waitlists.
“The past few years have shown us the incredible need for what CGI United offers,” said Rabbi Sholom Goldstein, founder and executive director of the camp. “This investment is about ensuring we can be there for even more children in our community, while staying true to our values of creating a warm, nurturing, and high-quality camp experience.”
CGI United’s expansion will allow the camp to accommodate significantly more campers starting this summer, including a groundbreaking addition of at least 50 spots for girls to attend for an extended two-month session. This comes as a direct response to popular demand from parents and families who have asked for a longer camp experience for their children.
Rabbi Goldstein expressed his excitement about the camp’s next phase: “Our vision has always been to provide as many children as possible with the transformative experience of camp, and this expansion allows us to do that on an even greater scale.”
Founded during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic, CGI United emerged as a lifeline for children yearning to connect with friends, grow, and experience the inspiration of camp. While other camps were closing their doors, CGI United boldly stepped forward to create a safe, vibrant space for children to thrive.
From the very beginning, the camp was guided by a dual focus: providing a Chassidishe, high-quality environment while ensuring accessibility to as many children as possible. In order to achieve this unique combination of quantity and simultaneous quality, a substantial investment is made in highly qualified married staff.
These experienced individuals bring warmth, wisdom, and care to every aspect of the camp. Key positions of married staff include a Director, Teen Camp Directors, Camp Rebbetzin, therapist, nurse, and camp mother, among others, ensuring every camper’s physical, emotional, and spiritual needs are met.
“Our staff is one of the things that truly sets us apart,” Rabbi Goldstein explained. “Our incredible team of married staff – some with children of camp age themselves – bring a depth of experience that truly elevates the camp experience, both for the campers and their parents. Their leadership helps transform the rest of our counselors and staff into true mentors and role models, deeply invested in the children’s growth and well-being.”
What makes this exceptional model possible is the camp’s bold and pioneering vision. CGI United enjoys beautiful, expansive grounds, but unlike many other camps, it is not financially responsible for the expenses associated with the property. Additionally, generous donors cover an annual six-figure deficit, allowing the camp to allocate all these extra resources directly into providing an extraordinary experience for its campers.
“This camp was never about profit—it’s about the children,” Rabbi Goldstein shared. “We’re here for the community, and every decision we make reflects that commitment.”
With registration for the upcoming summer set to open on January 1st, CGI United is already gearing up for another record-breaking season. The $250,000 investment marks a recommitment to its core mission: to provide an exceptional, nurturing, and joyful summer experience for every child who walks through its gates.
As CGI United embarks on this exciting new chapter, Rabbi Goldstein remains focused on the future: “This is just the beginning. We’re doubling down on our vision, and we can’t wait to welcome even more children to experience CGI United.”
