Barbara Elaine Taylor, a longtime resident of Parksville, NY, and caretaker of Camp Gan Israel, died Thursday, January 27, 2022 at Garnet Health Medical Center, Harris, NY.
She was 83.
Barbara was a beloved mother and grandmother, and wife of Eric Taylor whom she assisted with the caretaking of Camp Gan Israel in Parksville, NY, Chabad’s oldest summer camp, for decades.
Her husband, Eric, is a beloved figure in the camp, working as a caretaker for decades. He was recorded a few years ago, asking campers and staff to care for “the Rebbe’s camp” and keep it tidy.
She is survived by her husband, Eric B. Taylor, at home; three daughters, Judith Barnes and her husband Thomas of Tucson, AZ, Beverly Taylor-Fredenburg and her husband Edward of Liberty, NY and Constance Lescano and her longtime companion Blake Muthig; she had two sons, Eric B. Taylor Jr. and his wife Carmen of Tucson, AZ and Glen Taylor of Parksville, NY. She had one surviving sister, Jean Bailey. Barbara loved her 25 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, 2 great-great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Barbara was predeceased by her eldest daughter, Erica Carlson, who also was a caretaker at Camp Gan Israel of Parksville for many years.

I heard first hand stories about her from rabbi shemtov. Rabbi shemtov once to all the staff of camp into yechidus and Barbra A”h Hk”m went also and the rebbe told her that the chinuch of the kids to be godly is thanks to her!! I remember her a very special lady may her memory be a blessing R.I.P
