CGI Detroit Teen Campers Reflect on Summer

Camp Gan Israel of Detroit recently completed the 2019 summer season of their Teen Camp Division, now in its second year.

The program, designed for 8th-grade Chabad girls entering high school, offers a separate camp experience for girls entering High School, and is “focused around ingraining Chassidishkeit and chayus in the girls, led by a dedicated group of staff,” camp directors said.

The action-packed exciting program included workshops, late nights, Shabbos programs, farbrengens and a Shluchos trip.

“The dedicated staff worked tirelessly for months and months creatively planning to give the campers a summer like none other,” they said. “And the campers agree.”

Campers reflect on their summer experience:

Dear Gan Yisroel,

Here in CGI I found myself and the Yiddishkeit that I needed.

I never had so much fun in my life. Being around so many different friends helped it become the amazing month that it was. The trips and activities were a blast.

Here I was able to find my connection with the Rebbe, from the Farbrengens and Rebbe videos and so much more.

I will never forget my experience; it will stay with me for the rest of my life. I am really inspired to continue my Shlichus in Brazil.

Wow, this summer has been something so amazing that it’s way too hard to put into words; there’s just so much to say.

The amount I have gained this summer is incredible. It’s something I have never experienced before. I have gained a new perspective on everything; my hiskashrus to the Rebbe is now on an entire new level; my pride in being a Shlucha of the Rebbe has increased tremendously. Especially my staff who are really walking Dugma Chayos for me to look up to forever. Even regular camp activities have been transformed into something else. All of a sudden, eating lunch becomes something we look forward to, because of our amazing staff. Our late-night Farbrengens really really helped me grow, and in a very personal way.

What I really just want to say is thank you so much to our incredible campers, counselors, staff, and the Rebbe for this incredible experience that has really changed my life and made this summer what it is. I know I am coming out of camp much much bigger and better than before.

My daughter doesn’t stop raving about what an amazing atmosphere there was in camp (chasidish, fun, caring) due to such a great group of girls, and such special counselors and head counselors who had such a positive hashpaah on everyone…Thank you to all who were involved!!!
