The ceiling of the historic synagogue at 17 Rue des Rosiers in the center of the Jewish quarter unofficially called “the Pletzl,” caved in on Wednesday afternoon.
“It was due to the apparent old age of the shul,” one of the congregants told COLlive.com.
He said that “Baruch Hashem, no one was hurt,” or present at the time of the falling in of the 1-room shul, where the Lubavitcher Rebbe and three of his predecesors prayed.
Lubavitchers make it a point to daven in the shul during their visits to Paris. Head Shliach Rabbi Shmuel Azimov is the rov of the shul and leads the davening and farbrengs there on Shabbos.
This peeling is an old patch, just replaster the ceiling and repaint
