A Hachnosas Sefer Torah took place for the first time in Barranquilla, Colombia, this Sunday.
A large number of community members attended and many were moved to tears with emotion.
The Torah was donated by Mr. Salomon Lerner in memory of his parents for the Casa Lubavitch in Barranquilla.
Many community members participated by buying letters, words, or parshios.
The finishing of the Torah took place in Mr. Lerner’s home, and then, accompanied by joyous dancing, it was taken to Casa Lubavitch for Hakofos and the Seudas Mitzvah.
The Shluchim in Barranquilla are Rabbi Yossi and Chanie Liberow and Rabbi Eli and Cirel Sued. Shluchim from Bogota, Rabbi Yehoshua Binyomin Rosenfeld and Rabbi Chanoch Peikarski attendend as well. The attending sofer was Rabbi Yossel Morosow from Montreal, Canada.
