As the joyous holiday of Purim approaches, a group of staff from camp Yeka are spreading love and kindness across the globe. Instead of simply exchanging Mishloach Manot among themselves, they decided to pack and send over 70 baskets to children in Ukraine who attended Camp Yeka this past winter.
The bochurim eagerly gathered to prepare the baskets, filling them with an assortment of treats, toys, and personalized notes for each child. With each item they added, they thought about the Ukrainian children who would receive them, and the smiles they would bring.
The baskets were shipped by Camp Yeka, a non-profit organization providing humanitarian aid and Jewish educational programming to children in Ukraine. Camp Yeka is thrilled to send the baskets, knowing they would bring happiness and joy to the children who received them.
“These baskets are a reminder to our children that they are not forgotten and that people care about them,” said Mendel, a staff member. “We hope that the Mishloach Manot will bring joy, warmth and a feeling of connection with their family across the globe.”
These boys’ heartwarming gesture serves as a shining example of the holiday’s true spirit: spreading joy, building connections, and making a positive impact on the lives of others, especially in these difficult times, no matter the distance.
