I just want to share with you a story that happened in camp this past week.
I usually post pictures of our boys enjoying camp, but this picture is a little different as you can see. It’s about a special girl making special changes in her life, and inspiring other girls to do the same.
We implemented a rewards program in Sports Camp for kids that participate in activities during the day by giving them coupons to collect and use at week’s end to buy prizes for themselves.
The girl in this picture is Alexia. She is part of our sister camp, CGI Main Camp, and is part of a whole different rewards program compared to Sports Camp.
On Friday, when Sports Camp opened its prize store, Alexia approached the prize table to buy a prize, but she was disappointed that her currency wasn’t accepted at Sports Camp.
But she had a good idea. She made a deal with the Sports Camp staff that she will light the Shabbat candles if she can get a bag of popcorn.
To this deal, the staff agreed and gave her a bag of popcorn based on this condition.
This is a picture of Alexia, all dressed up for Shabbat, lighting the Shabbos candles with the help of her mom. Way to go Alexia! Your little candle shines forth much-needed light into this dark world.
We should all learn from Alexia, by adding a little bit more light into this world by doing one more Mitzvah. One more act of goodness and kindness, which, together, will make this world a better and brighter place for Moshaich Amen!
Amazing!! The Rebbe must be very proud!!!
This leichter is the one the Rebbe designed!!!
me’at ohr…doche harbeh min hachoshech
Kol Hakavod to the staff.
It’s amazing to look around the world and see how many camps doing the Rebbes shlichus, this is one great story out of much more that we don’t know about.
My we merit to the coming of Moshiach
Beautiful and clever. Her little light is not only giving the Rebbe zl much yiddishe nachas but is pushing away a lot of darkness. May other girls emulate her example.
Yasher Choach and Mazeltov to staff and Alexia! We can never know which mitzvah will put the final touch and tip the scale for once and for all.
What an amazing story! These are the things that these children will remember for years to come!
